Baseball is back… Way, Way Back

In another lifetime. A long time ago, In a galaxy far far away, Your’s Truly played a stint in Minor League Baseball, signing a Free Agent contract with The Frontier League’s flagship team, The Kalamazoo Kings.

Among the best times of my life – The thrill of victory, agony of defeat, blood, sweat & tears left on the field alongside my best of friends – in front of thousands cheering nightly! The smell of a well-oiled leather glove, pine tar on a wooden bat, fresh cut Kentucky bluegrass & concession stand cuisine.

A game for the young of heart – my passion for Baseball still runs fluidly through the veins… Day dreaming most afternoons (in a sterilized, florescent-lit office environment) that my Detroit Tigers are just playing hardball at the negotiating table – And soon, I’ll make my long-overdue appearance on the World Series roster for my beloved hometown team! #one can hope, right?

Photo: Nearly 15 years ago, after a big win in the season’s playoff stretch, a post-game photo with the best hometown crowd a ballplayer could ask for – Kalamazoo’s Super Fans – The loudest, most rambunctious, wild & crazy dudes I knew – Opposing teams feared walking in the Lions Den when these verbal bruisers were lined the grandstands!:)

Now, snapping back to reality. Although the “Official Start of Spring” is this evening with Opening Day for the Tigers – Your’s Truly, far past my athletic prime, instead of being on the field, will be cheering loudly behind the barbeque, with a brewski in hand, amongst buddies, as our team commences another year of baseball, chasing down the elusive World Series crown I pray they hold high come October!

Stay hungry. Grill on. Play ball. Go Tigers!
