KEY INGREDIENTS USED IN THIS RECIPE

Salt, Pepper, and Smoked Paprika Rub: These three ingredients are the ultimate flavor boosters, taking your grilling game to celestial heights, and making even a cardboard taste like a gourmet delicacy.

Grapeseed Oil: The superhero of the rub, this slick and non-stick sidekick ensures your spices cling to the meat like a velcro hug. And, its high smoke point saves you from the dreaded burnt oil disaster—because let’s face it, nobody wants their pork chop smelling like a tire fire.

Pork Roast: This magnificent hunk of meat is a budget-savvy option, saving you precious pennies by avoiding the extra cost of butchering it into individual chops and steaks—let’s keep those hard-earned dollars for more important things, like a fancy apron collection or an epic grilling expedition.

Honey, Soy and Garlic Glaze: Behold the dream team of the glaze! Combine honey’s golden sweetness, soy sauce’s umami magic, and garlic’s pungent charm to create a symphony of flavor. You’ll want to pour this liquid gold over everything from your pork chop to your morning cereal. (Well, maybe not that far!)

WHAT SIDE DISHES COULD BE SERVED ALONGSIDE HONEY GARLIC BONE-IN PORK CHOPS?

Grilled Asparagus: This lovely vegetable has a small window for harvesting so get it while you can! Seasoned with salt and pepper, the freshness and earthy flavor pairs well with the sweetness of the glaze on the pork.

Crispy Fingerling Potatoes: Halving the potatoes and coating them in salt and grapeseed oil brings out their distinct buttery flavor. Then cook in cast iron over the coals to allow the natural sugars in the potato to caramelize and crust up for amazing texture.

Sauteed Spinach or Bitter Greens: Again, playing off the sweetness of the glaze, a slightly bitter green works so well for this meal.  A bit of garlic and red wine vinegar for some sharpness and you’re golden.

TOP 5 MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT HONEY GARLIC BONE-IN PORK CHOPS

How do I make the perfect honey garlic glaze for bone-in pork chops without burning it over the coals? Master the art of glazing by cooking your pork chops to an internal temperature of 140°F. From there, apply the luscious homemade honey garlic sauce over indirect heat. Trust me, no one wants their glaze to go up in flames like a misguided backyard fireworks show!

Can I use the same honey garlic glaze for chicken wings? Absolutely! This magical glaze works wonders on chicken wings too—transforming them into crispy, sticky, flavor-packed delights that will have your taste buds overjoyed.

Should I use bone-in or boneless pork chops for this recipe? While both options can be tasty, the bone-in pork chops are like the James Bond of grilling—they have that extra suave factor that adds juiciness and flavor. So, go ahead and channel your inner secret agent with those bone-in beauties.

What’s the secret to achieving perfectly seasoned pork chops? Ah, my friend, it’s all about the rub. Transform your chops into culinary stars with a powerful blend of salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. This combo will definitely leave your guests wowed by your grilling skills.

Can I use a different oil instead of grapeseed oil in the rub? Grapeseed oil is ideal, but feel free to experiment with different oils for your rub. Selecting a high smoke point oil makes the perfect sidekick to keep rubs on the meat and grilling hassle-free.

WHAT ARE THE BEST BEVERAGE PAIRINGS FOR HONEY GARLIC BONE-IN PORK CHOPS?

Craft Beer: The freshness of a nice crisp lager makes a perfect pairing for this sweet dish. Consider Funslinger Lager, a refreshing collab from Breck Brewing and Never Summer.

Cocktail: Moscow Mule is a banger here! The ginger beer and lime bite complements the pork’s richness, creating a refreshing palate pleaser.

Wine: A nice cold Riesling would go so well when enjoying this dish out on the patio. The higher acidity works well cutting through the richness of the dish.

Equipment

  • Charcoal Grill
  • Cast iron pans
  • Basting brush
  • Chef's knife
  • Thermometer

Ingredients

Pork

  • 4-6 bone pork roast cut into 4-6 chops or whatever thickness you prefer
  • 2 tbsp fine sea salt
  • 2 tbsp cracked black pepper
  • 2 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp grapeseed oil per chop

Honey Garlic Glaze

  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 5 garlic cloves finely grated

Garnish

  • Fresh chives
  • Parsley
  • Extra Honey Garlic Glaze

Instructions

  • Start by getting the grill up to 375 F and with indirect heat, meaning only one side with hot coals and the other with nothing. While the grill is coming to temperature, use this time to prep all the other ingredients that you are serving with the pork. For the Pork Chops, I like to slice out roughly 1” thick chops, as they cook well and stay juicy! Once the chops are cut, slather the pork with the oil and rub in all the spices. Set aside and let the meat sweat with it.
  • While waiting for the chops to go on, place all the glaze ingredients into a small cast iron pan and mix well. Place the cast iron onto the heat and let it come to a simmer so that it begins to thicken up.
  • Once you are about 20 min from dinner time, get the pork on the grill! Place chops on the heated side of the grill and don’t touch it for 2-3 minutes. We want to build up the grill marks and char on it. Rotate the pork chops 90 degrees and allow to cook again for another 2-3 minutes. Then, flip and let them sit on the heat for roughly 5 minutes. Once that time is up, take the pork chop and, holding by the bone, dip into the gaze or baste it with a brush. Set the chops over on the indirect heat side and allow the glaze to set. Feel free to glaze the pork a couple time to build up the flavors and sticky goodness!
  • Check the internal temperature of the pork, which should be roughly at 140-145 F. When you get to this temperature, remove the pork from the grill and allow to rest for 4-5 minutes on a rimmed cutting board. Slice and serve!
