Grilled Campfire S’Mores Crostini

Experience the Magic of Gourmet S'mores by the Campfire

There’s something undeniably magic about campfire cooking. Whether it’s the smoky essence of smoldering hardwoods, warmth of flickering flames, a grate full of rustic grilled fare, or the comradery of loved ones gathered around the fire – to me, it’s in this special place that I’m transported back to simpler times and some of my very best childhood memories.

Now, if you ask me, there is no summer gathering that was or will ever be complete with out the ultimate, fire-toasted outdoor delicacy – S’mores! And, to be clear, I’ll always have a love and appreciation for the chocolatey-marshmallow’y classic, but we’re turning up the heat and laying down a gourmet twist on the old school dessert sandwich, with Live Fire Republic’s Grilled Campfire S’mores Crostini!

Each bite is a symphony of flavors, the sweetness of the marshmallow harmonizing with the bittersweet chocolate, while the hint of cinnamon adds a delightful warmth. Alternatively, envision the tantalizing contrast of tart, juicy berries mingling with the indulgent creaminess of Nutella, encasing a perfectly toasted marshmallow. The marriage of flavors is a celebration for the senses, as the tangy sweetness of the berries dances with the rich, hazelnut-infused chocolate. With Campfire S’mores Crostini, the possibilities for creating unforgettable taste sensations are as boundless as your creativity.

  • Can I use any type of chocolate for my s’mores, or is it strictly ‘campfire-approved’ chocolate? Embrace your chocolate freedom! While traditionalists stick to milk chocolate, feel free to get creative with dark, white, or even flavored chocolate bars. Just remember, the s’more the merrier!
  • What’s the secret to perfectly toasted marshmallows without setting them on fire? Patience, my friend! Give those marshmallows a little distance from the flames, rotate them gently, and embrace the slow dance of golden perfection. Remember, a little char adds character!
  • How do I prevent my s’more from turning into a deliciously messy disaster? Embrace the art of the squish! Gently press your toasted marshmallow between the graham crackers to create a harmonious balance. Alternatively, have napkins at the ready and embrace the glorious messiness. It’s part of the s’more experience!
  • Can I roast marshmallows if I don’t have a campfire? Absolutely! Get your creativity fired up with a stove burner, a grill, or even a backyard bonfire pit. Remember, where there’s a marshmallow, there’s a way!
  • Are there any s’more combinations that transcend the classic graham cracker, marshmallow, and chocolate? Absolutely! Just read, print and share this blog post!

  1. The Classic Teepee Method: Gather dry kindling and arrange them in a teepee shape, leaving a small opening at the base. Place firewood logs around the kindling, allowing airflow. Light the kindling from the bottom, and as the flames grow, add larger logs. This method provides a steady, even fire for perfect marshmallow toasting.
  2. The Log Cabin Method: Stack two larger logs parallel to each other, then place two smaller logs perpendicular on top, creating a log cabin structure. Fill the center with kindling and ignite it. As the fire grows, add more logs. This method offers a controlled fire with consistent heat.
  3. Lean-To Method: Place a large log on the ground as a “backbone” and prop smaller logs against it at an angle, forming a lean-to structure. Ignite the kindling beneath the lean-to, and the fire will spread upward along the logs.

Mastering these campfire-building techniques ensures a roaring fire, ready to create that perfect golden-brown marshmallow for the ultimate grilled campfire s’mores crostini experience.

Craft Beer Pairings:

  1. S’more Stout by Short’s Brewing complements the chocolate ganache and toasted marshmallows of the crostini.
  2. Smoky Timber Porter by Woodland Brewery is crafted hints of smoke and roasted malt that enhance the grilled crostini and marshmallow elements.

Cocktail Pairings:

  1. S’mores Old Fashioned is mixed with bourbon, chocolate bitters, and a toasted marshmallow garnish, perfectly complementing the crostini’s flavors.
  2.  Toasty Campfire Martini is a concoction of chocolate liqueur, vodka, and a rim dipped in crushed graham crackers, echoing the essence of the s’more crostini.

Wine Pairings:

  1.  Ember Vineyards’ Campfire Cuvée is perfect with its dark fruit notes and smoky undertones, harmonizing with the grilled crostini and rich chocolate.
  2. Sweet Sunset Winery’s Marshmallow Moscato is a sweet and effervescent wine with hints of vanilla and honey, perfectly contrasting the crostini’s flavors.

These pairings will ignite your taste buds and elevate the grilled campfire s’mores crostini experience, making it a fireside adventure you won’t forget. Cheers to indulgence!
